What every calculation actually is
Every number AbleGauge shows is estimated, based only on the information you enter. AbleGauge does not have access to your SSA case file, your ABLE program account, your bank accounts, or any government record. A result of "SAFE" means only: no threshold issue was detected from the information you entered — it does not mean the Social Security Administration has reviewed your case or guarantees your benefits.
AbleGauge never tells you that you qualify for a program, that you are eligible, that your SSI will stop, that you will lose Medicaid, or that a contribution is guaranteed safe. Where a rule may apply based on what you entered, we say so using language like "may apply" or "based on the information entered" — never a flat determination.
The SSI $100,000 figure, specifically
A frequent misunderstanding is that an ABLE account balance reaching $100,000 automatically ends SSI. That is incorrect, and AbleGauge does not calculate it that way. The first $100,000 in an ABLE account is excluded from SSI countable resources; only the amount above $100,000 counts, combined with other countable resources, against the SSI resource limit. Medicaid
Where an SSI cash benefit is suspended solely because of ABLE-related excess resources, Medicaid eligibility in states where Medicaid is tied to SSI is not automatically terminated by that specific suspension. This is a narrow, specific rule, not a separate or lower Medicaid dollar threshold, and AbleGauge does not determine your personal Medicaid status. Numbers change
Contribution limits, resource limits, and program maximums are set by federal and state rules that can change from year to year. AbleGauge aims to keep figures current and dated, but you should confirm any number that matters for a real decision against the official source linked in that calculation's "Why this number?" section.
